An Efficient Method for Light Beaming from Subwavelength Slits Surrounded by Surface Gratings

This paper investigates the directional beaming of metallic subwavelength slits surrounded by dielectric gratings. The design structure for light was formulated as an optimization problem far-field angular transmission. A vertical mode expansion method developed to solve diffraction problem, which then integrated into a genetic algorithm and active set obtain optimal result. By using proposed two-slit structure, we demonstrate that both single- dual-beaming effects can be efficiently achieved. Moreover, directions flexibly adjusted precisely controlled.
